You guys are awesome! Thanks! I get so mad at myself sometimes because I think that just because I quit smoking that my body should go back to it's unsmoking stage overnight.  Good grief! 40+ years of constant torment. I guess my body is allowed to struggle to get back up after so many years of abuse. I will continue to be good to myself and hope for the best. Thanks again for all your support. I do know that I will never, ever, smoke again.

Deb I hear ya! I had much the same problems. I figured my swelling ankles was due to the weight gain, and of course the weight gain was due to the quit.
Happy to say both are now under control and the swollen ankles have gone-these are just minor blips in the early days, it will all right itself honestly. Hang on in there, you're doing so well.

You are not a hag!!  Check with your doctor.  The weight gain, look at it this way, there is more of you to love   I hate it too, but I know for the most part I am doing it to myself.  Cookies, candy and anything sweet is about to land some extra weight on me.  I am keep a food diary, which I have done for several years now, and I can see what I am doing   Need to stock up on "healthy" snacks.

You are doing an awesome job with this quit and that is what is important.  So let's continue the quit and each day look at what we can do about the nagging issues, okay?

Keep the Quit

Not too sure about that one deb. Maybe you should visit your doctor if it keeps up. It could be the heat, your diet, lack of exercise, or something else...who knows
Hang in there, and please keep us posted on how you are doing,

You know, my mind says I am in my late 20's/early 30's.  After a long day at work on my feet, and the definate increase is salt in my diet, I sometimes notice my feet and ankles swelling.  Thank goodness I don't have high blood pressure!  You sound pretty 'normal' to me, at this stage of your quit.  But you might want to talk to your doctor about your concerns.  You are NOT a hag, and the physical symptoms are part of quitting!  Congrats on 35 days smoke-free!!!  Keep up the good work!
